Because a stone without a story is just a stone.
And the story is the real value.

Mass-made jewellery doesn't last.
It gets replaced.

Kloofhuis, est. 2009
Every Kloofhuis piece is drawn for one person, cast in our atelier and set by hand under the mountain. We make about sixty pieces a year. None of them are made twice.

A 1.6 carat round brilliant on a knife-edge platinum band. For a proposal at sunrise on the peak it is named after.

Her grandmother's gold, melted and recast. Eighteen carat, with the old hallmark kept on the back.

Yellow gold, hand-engraved with protea leaves that only show when the light turns. A twentieth anniversary.

Forty-two diamonds, each one set by eye under the loupe. Twelve weeks at the bench.

Twelve matched stones for twelve peaks. Made for a wedding at Llandudno, then handed to a daughter.

Three coloured diamonds, one for each child. Chosen by hand from a parcel of two hundred.

The making
Two hours in the atelier with coffee and no hurry. You tell us who it is for and what it has to remember. We look at stones together.

Our designer draws by hand first, then in 3D. You hold a printed model of the ring on your finger before any gold is cast.

Recycled South African gold and platinum, cast and forged at the bench on Kloof Street. Bring old pieces and we melt them in.

Every stone is set by one master setter, by eye. Then it is polished, hallmarked and handed to you in person.

“I wanted something my daughter would fight her brother for one day. They made exactly that.”
